My client wanted a way to consolidate their stationery and art supplies into a single attractive portable cabinet. Inspired by the decor of a popular cafe in the Southern Highlands of NSW, the cabinet was to be made of Tasmanian Oak with a marble-style stone top.
The cabinet has three different drawer sizes. The top four, shallowest drawers house general stationery, fine stationery items and removable chests of pencils (The cabinet was engineered so that if required, the pencil chest could remain in their drawer and be utilised without removing it). The middle drawers contain paper, art books, markers and painting materials while the deep drawer at the base has enough space for spare materials and bulky items. Each of the draw sizes needed it’s own dovetail configuration.
The handles are arranged in an interesting V-configuration to bring extra character and interest to the piece. The casters on the base are more than capable of moving this hefty cabinet around the home.
